I rented this book from Amazon instead of purchasing it because of the big price difference. Sometimes I get skeptical of text books because they are such hit or miss items as far as teaching students the material. This book alone will not be enough. However, it is a great introduction into learning more about the processes of information systems and understanding the importance of them in the business world. Yes, it's dry and boring. Yes, it's required for school. However, the ability to comprehend and understand this material will be the difference between someone who moves up in the business world and someone who stays stagnant. (not bashing anyone who is happily stable).It's worth looking at and paying attention to if it's required for school. Double it up with a good book about the processes of other database systems or microsoft access, and the material can really blow your mind once you find real world applications for it.
It came to days late and the corners were damaged. Disappointing.
The book was easy and quick to read, however, the diagrams had typos within them. Some of the arrows were wrong (backwards/double sided when they should be single/etc.). My class was tested on the placement and direction of the arrows, so learning the correct placement was difficult. This is a small detail that should have been paid more attention to before publishing the book.
This book is awful and has little to do with accounting. It is useful to see how IT and accounting interact but this book only shows it from the IT side and there is no accounting practice in it. Also the Technology projects at the end of each chapter are written incredibly poorly and the instructions are as vague as can be. There are no examples of what the end product of the problems should be in the book and no example of the process of building these projects, which takes away any benefit of of the exercises. The kick is the book has nothing to do with building any of the projects, they are just included.
I was very impressed by the overall experience of ordering this book. The condition was better than I thought and the price was great. It arrived much early than expected. This experience saved me lots of money if I were to buy it at the school bookstore even buying it used there.
God I hated this book and this author, but I needed it for my class.
